CALVARY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL of NEWARK

Educational Philosophy

  1. Christian education has its foundation in the Scriptures. It is a process through which a child is guided by instruction in God's truth and by human knowledge, taught from a God centered perspective, into his place in God's plan of growth and development.
  2. Christian education should be aimed at leading each student into his right relationship with God through Jesus Christ and relating the whole person to God spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically.
  3. The parents are responsible for their children's education (Deu. 6:6-9; Eph. 6:1-4). The Christian school aids in this task by offering daily instruction at school. The teacher receives his/her authority in this learning process from the parents who delegate this aspect of their child's training to the school.
  4. The child is multifaceted. He/she is a spiritual-physical being, having social, moral, intellectual and emotional needs that must be considered in the process of Christian education. We must train the whole person.
  5. The curriculum of Calvary Christian School is the means by which the child is prepared to face life in a real world, not a cloistered Christian world, by offering him the tools to face this life effectively and as an agent of truth in any area of life into which God leads him.
